The rain should clear up by 9pm. So, if you're still in the city this evening (challah!), head over to a bar. Any bar. And drink in Christmas Eve. Because, you see, the day before tomorrow is really all about a bunch of people gathering at a watering hole to commiserate. Isn't that what December 23rd should be about? Yes, yes it is.
Though any comfy place serving booze will do, here are three choice ideas:
• Yes, the venue's name, the Unresolved Love Life of Evelyn Lee (491 Potrero), brings to mind an Obie Award-winning one-woman show. But it's not. It's a bar. And tonight it will play host to Lindsey's Heathen Holiday Party, an alternative fete featuring a people just like you looking to release before Christmas Eve and Christmas beat us over the head with merriment and melancholy.
• Looking for a sausage fest? Head down to SOMA and check out the Lone Star (1354 Harrison). It's all kinds of fun. And sometimes dirty. But mostly fun. They've got a beer bust going from 4pm-8pm. Aside form that, the beer is unusually cheap at this local institution. Do check it out.
• Oh, we get it. You're fancy. Well, we like fancy. We, unlike the unscrubbed, Chrome bag-sporting masses, do not shun elegance (which we hear is learned). We want to help you. And with that, why not take an Uber downtown to check out the St. Regis Hotel Lobby Bar (125 - 3rd Street). Why? Why not. Also, they just redid the place with new furniture and new lighting accents. Lucky you.
