BART is taking a survey to see how the public feels about demand-based parking pricing at BART parking lots. The majority of parking lots at BART stations charge only a dollar or two dollars a day (West Oakland is the exception, at $5 a day), but under a new plan, rates would go up to $3 at the most popular stations, with prices falling back down when those lots don't fill up.

The move is seen as a way of keeping fares down. No changes would take effect until mid-2013 at the earliest, and would be subject to the approval of the BART board.
