As we've been saying for months now, the best part of the America's Cup (aside from the champagne) is watching expensive things make big splashes. This weekend, Oracle skipper Jimmy Spithill did just that in one of Saturday's fleet races, when he sent his crew's AC-45 on a nosedive straight in to the Bay.
We've handily fast forwarded to the good parts. Observe:
Spithill and crew managed to shake off the DNF in Saturday's race to beat out fellow Oracle skipper Russell Coutts' by 17 seconds to take the title in the America's Cup World Series San Francisco Championship.
The next opportunity to see fancy stuff that doesn't belong to you sink in the bay won't come around until the Louis Vuitton Cup next July, followed by the America's Cup Finals in September 2013.
