Dayle Smith, an associate dean at USF's undergraduate School of Management, has resigned citing his disagreement with the school's aggressive recruitment of Chinese nationals with poor English language skills.

Smith believed that the school was going to have trouble administering the amount of extra help these Chinese students would need, and that it would dilute the educational experience for all the enrolled students.

Matier and Ross reports on the flap following a letter sent out to faculty by Business School Dean Mike Webber announcing Smith's departure. Webber wrote that "given that so many of these students have weak English skills and are disproportionately from one country, we are going to be faced with some unique pedagogical and cultural challenges."
