In a move we'd associate more with local TV news than with a print publication, the San Jose Mercury-News sent a couple of cub reporters to interview people standing in line this morning to see The Dark Knight Rises in San Francisco to ask them how they felt about last night's massacre at a movie theater outside Denver. What does this accomplish? We have no idea.

Did this movie really have anything to do with the shooter's motives? We highly doubt it, and so does 72-year-old Ken Martin, whom they interviewed.

And what was the gist of their reactions? They're saddened and appalled at the tragedy. Also, they would like to see this movie. The end.

By the way, here's the first picture of the shooter, James Holmes.
