Good news for the elderly pedestrian struck by a cyclist at Castro and Market Streets yesterday: although his injuries were originally considered life threatening, the victim (now confirmed to be a sprightly 71-years-old) is expected to survive. Police have yet to confirm eyewitness reports that the cyclist ran a red light before colliding with the unsuspecting septuagenarian.

No word yet on how badly the cyclist hurt himself in the bang-up, but the injuries that sent him to S.F. General yesterday were not considered life threatening.

If you happened to witness the incident, SFPD would like you to call the accident investigation bureau at (415) 553-1641 and help them get this thing sorted out.
