SFO Terminal 2 Community Open House: BART on over to SFO and take a gander at the swanky new, state-of-the-art Terminal 2, featuring five new art commissions as well as the reinstallation of 20 works from the collection, including sculptures by international artists Arnoldo Pomodoro and Seiji Kunishima and paintings by important Bay Area painters such as Joan Brown, Willard Dixon, Roy de Forrest, Hassel Smith, Sam Tchakalian and others.
16th Annual Bay Area Anarchist Book Fair: This book fair is pretty darn organized, considering its put on by anarchists. The weekend-long festival features local, regional, and national booksellers, distributors, independent presses and political groups, along with panels, speakers, an art show, live music performances, a sewing competition, and parties.
Green Festival: This touring "party with a purpose" spans the whole eco-conscious realm, featuring speakers on everything from greening your home to eco-beauty to how to change the world with what’s on your plate, along with music performances, activities for kids, fair trade shopping, and more.
Cesar E. Chavez Holiday Parade & Festival 2011: In today's political climate, we need all the inspiration we can get. Celebrating labor and civil rights champion (and vegan), Cesar Chavez, on Saturday should be the perfect morale boost. Head over in the morning for the parade, followed by a street fair.
Sunday Streets/Free Wall: The weather should be clear, if not a bit brisk, for Sunday Streets along Great Highway this weekend. While you're out there, do your thing on the Free Wall provided by the SF Arts Commission and DPW, which will be stationed near Lincoln. Spray paint will be provided so that artists of all ages can participate.
