On the South end of Mission Street, a 2-alarm 3-alarm fire broke out around 8:10 pm this evening on the 3212 Mission in La Lengua. MissionMission reader Jessie C. sends in the above photo of the blaze from about an hour ago. The original blaze was put out, but from the sounds of the police scanner, SFFD is still on the scene dealing with some new flames and heavy smoke. A couple blocks around Mission street are currently blocked off.
Update: On the scanner it sounds like the fire has started to spread to Lotus Garden next door. Also: MissionMission has additional photos and video, if you really need to rubberneck.
No word yet on any injuries or the cause of the fire.
Update: At least one victim being treated for smoke inhalation and one firefighter taken to SF General. The third alarm was called around 9pm and the 14-Mission and 49-Van Ness buses were rerouted. Bay City News has the eyewitness account from Josh, the bartender at the Knockout across the street, who watched the whole thing go down. [BCN/SFAppeal]
