As one of the few places in San Francisco where anyone could stroll in and lounge poolside with a beverage, we were disappointed to see Bambuddha Lounge at the Phoenix Hotel disappear last year. So, when InsideScoop scooped up renderings of Bambuddha's replacement: Chambers Eat + Drink (or just "Chambers" to the cool kids), we got a little bit excited for the summer months (October) when everyone won't be all buttoned up to the throat in their rainslickers.
According to owner Sean Manchester, Chambers is going for a vibe reminiscent of something like, "if Steven Tyler bought a historical mansion and moved in" - which is not actually a good way to sell us on a bar, but look: there are cabanas! And as InsideScoop points out, there will be plenty of fire installations for the expected opening date just in time for the June gloom. Hopefully when the sun returns, they'll hire someone to swim around and look pretty (that's how lounges work, right?), because actually getting in the pool ourselves would require both physical exertion and swim trunks - two things we don't generally have the patience for when we're busy lounging.
In the meantime, InsideScoop has the computer-generated version of the new space, and Tablehopper got the scoop on the menu way back in February.
