For many people, like this SFist editor, the thought of warm fruit and lard-based crust makes for a disastrous end to any meal. The cake vs. pie war, as you know, is a divided one. But for many others, pie is a tasty treat to be celebrated. Enter National Pi Day, a time to celebrate pizzas, the aforementioned dessert treat, or the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter (i..e., Pi or π, 3.14 = 3/14).
Here are a few ways to celebrate National Pi Day:
Yumsugar has 10 recipes for every kind of taste, from pizzas to pies.
Mission Pie (2901 Mission) will offer slices for a mere $3.14. That's a 10% savings for their much-lauded pies. Highly recommend.
The Mitchell Brothers O'Farrell Theater [NSFW] will have a happy hour from 7 pm - 9 pm, with female strippers prancing around on stage for your viewing pleasure. We'll let you draw the correlation here yourselves.
Zero-star rated Morton's Steakhouse is offering a slice of Key Lime Pie for only $3.14, which, according to their PR person, is a bargain compared to the usual price of $10.50. (Seriously? $10.50? Sheesh.)
Update: We completely forgot! Pi Bar (1432 Valencia) will be serving all beers for only $3.14 from open to close. (Thanks for the reminder, MrEricSir.)
If you know any other restaurants or shops celebrating Pi Day, please let us know in the comments. Thanks.
