Newsom Speaks: Will Probably Delay Swearing-In as Lt. Gov

Mayor Newsom probably ruined the Holidays for some supervisors by finally speaking up about this whole Interim Mayor selection process. According to CBS5 this morning, Gavin has laid out his terms: if he doesn't receive assurances from the Board of Supervisors that they will select an apolitical "caretaker" Mayor for 2011 then he will remain in City Hall until the new board as a chance to take their seats. From the horse's mouth:

I can't just walk away and see everything blow up and there are a few politicians in this town that want to serve on ideological agenda.

On the other hand, Arnold Schwarzenegger walked away from a lot of things while they blew up and his political career turned out OK.
