THEATER: Ray of Light Theatre kicks off their 10th Anniversary Season with the West Coast premiere of Jerry Springer The Opera. The opera, which was awarded "Best Musical" honors by all four major British award groups, "channels all the mayhem and excitement that held worldwide television audiences in utter rapture." The show runs through October 16th.

ART/TECHNOLOGY: It's the opening reception of art.tech, a festival of art, performance, sound, workshops, demos, and lectures focusing on cutting-edge artistic experiments in the intersection of art and technology. This year's event explores technological experimentation, open source methodologies, collaboration, accessibility, and interactivity with special emphasis on biotechnology.

ART: Supervisors David Chiu, Ross Mirkarimi, David Campos, and Eric Mar are hosting the ongoing City Hall Exhibit in their offices, which runs through December. The showcase will feature photography, painting, mixed media, collage, printmaking and scratchboard artists, curated by Pamela Wu Kochiyama and Matt McKinley.
