A packed week of shows with Suckers at Great American Music Hall Tuesday, psych-rock quartet Sunbeam Rd. at Milk Thursday and drum-heavy trio Religious Girls at Thee Parkside Saturday.

Our featured act this week is Tamaryn, who plays Elbo Room Wednesday with the previously profiled and all around awesome Weekend. Straddling the line between shoegaze, coldwave and dreampop, the San Francisco-based duo's debut LP The Wave might just be the most exciting local release of the year. Packed with nine beautifully crafted tracks, the album's methodical production and clear focus on melody offers a refreshing break from the current wave of buzz bands who share in Tamaryn's love of reverb but lack the band's ability to balance the noise with traditional pop sensibilities. We have little doubt that this one will find its way onto endless best of lists by years end, and that Tamaryn will graduate to the city's larger venues in the months to come -- be sure to catch the band in an intimate setting while you still can.

Several other show options this week including the previously profiled Ty Segall at Rickshaw Stop Wednesday, San Francisco dance favorites Boyz IV Men and Loose Shus at Rickshaw Stop Thursday and ambient electronic act Pantha Du Prince at the Independent Saturday.
