Fried Idly at Udupi Palace
Fried Idly are little pucks of lentil and rice mashed up and then deep fried and covered in chopped veggies and spicy tastiness. They taste like the magical moment when a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. God, do we sound like we just got back from Burning Man, or what? We swear, we didn't, this stuff just brings out the hippie in us. Now, let's drop acid and make out on a cloud of puppies. J/K, that would be totally weird, we don't even know your sign! The only crappy thing about Udupi Palace is that their music is a mixture of James Blunt and nothing. So worse than just painful, painful silence.
Pizza Marinara at A 16
Did you know that the original pizza was vegan? Just a flatbread with tomatoes, oregano, garlic, and olive oil. We learned that from our friend Joel's Yelp review. What have you ever taught us, Michael Bauer!? Okay, fine, plenty. But Joel's had us over for vegan pizza feasts and Michael Bauer has yet to do that so we're sticking with Joel. Unless, uh, you're interested, Mr. Bauer? And then, Joel? What's that? Who's he? Anyway, back to pizza being originally vegan... that's pretty fresh, right? Well, they serve up a mean, naturally vegan Pizza Marinara at A 16. If you want the best authetico-ish pizza in San Francisco, you'll put on your starchiest striped shirt and head to the Marina. Plus, Sean Penn is spotted here on the regular and we've always had a thing for that angry little dude.
