SFGate reports that about 60,000 people (including some creepy fundamentalist Christians), turned out for the chilly, 99th Annual Bay to Breakers race today, 5,000 of whom were serious runners.
The Gate and Bay City News/SF Appeal noted that there were a small number of arrests for public drunkenness, but according to SFist commenter digitalhoodie and Twitter, public drunkenness (and urination) were still prevalent. Quite a few injuries involving both runners and excessive drinkers were also reported.
UPDATE: Stuart at Caliber witnessed a runner die after crossing the finish line today. UPDATE II: The victim was revived at the scene and taken to SF General, but it's still unclear as to whether he survived.
