Disturbing news, folks. UC Davis police arrested 18-year-old Henry Nguyen of Oakland and 19-year-old Josue Melendez of Los Angeles on Wednesday on suspicion of abusing hamsters, filming said cruelty, and then posting the footage online. The students, according to AP (via CBS 5), "allegedly battered and used a cigarette lighter to torture the hamsters. One of the hamsters died, but the other recovered after being cared for at the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital."

The criminal complaint also notes: "The two suspects allegedly hit the hamster with a ruler, flung it across the room, and put the animal in a cup and lit the bottom of the cup on fire." And, at the risk of stirring the internet lynch mob pot, there's already a 'Henry Nguyen Tortures Animals' page on Facebook.
