The Bay Area has a new daily food newsletter, one you need to know about. It's called Tasting Table. What's more, it's penned by the multi-talented Scott Hocker. (Before joining Tasting Table, Hocker was an editor and food scribe over at San Francisco Magazine.)
What's Hocker like? Well, first off, the food writing world in the Bay Area is, for the most part, a friendly one; it's hard to get one gastronomic scribbler to say something bad about another. (Lord knows we've tried!) SFist asked Eater's Paolo Lucchesi to tell us what he thinks Hocker will bring to the, ahem, table. "Scott is a talented writer and a really smart guy, so I'm thinking Tasting Table will be a very strong—and just as importantly, a unique— addition to the Bay Area. Definitely looking forward to it," Lucchesi said.
Hocker's hymen-breaking edition, which went live today, talks about Z's Cocktail Lounge in Alameda, who, it seems, have a mighty fine pan bagnat (your SFist editor's absolute favorite sandwich.)
