Obviously, this isn't local (though we did get a small East Bay "jiggle" this morning) but definitely of local interest: it seems, according to KRON 4, a 8.0 earthquake hit "90 miles southeast" of Lima, Peru this afternoon, just off of the coast. Major power outages are reported. But from what we hear, they're deep quakes -- about 20-30 miles or more down. And a tsunami warning/watch is in effect for the coast of South America and parts of Central America.

Our hearts and crossed-fingers go out to those of you with loved ones in Peru, and of course, to the people of Peru.

Ugh. Awful.

More to come.
