In Roanoke of 500 years ago, the settlers clash with a creepy bestial native tribe. In Berkeley of the present day, a young boy comes of age as he discovers that a creepy bestial tribe may be calling to him. Does he belong in an isolated village, mingling only with the creatures of his own kind, or out exploring in the world with his uninhibited Birkenstocky parents? It's a complicated question, one that a lot of kids find themselves going through as adulthood looms. And it's hard to tell which decision is best, especially since, as we mentioned, the book gets kinda confusing. Not just because of the sloppy art, but because the consequences of the kid's choices are never really clear.
