When we first moved to San Francisco, we lived in a teensy-weensy little basement apartment that was so small we could only have two people over at a time. Plus, it had a carpet that bore a distinct resemblance to a putting green. This was very embarrassing the time our college roommate was in town, invited her ex-boyfriend to hang out, and in the course of the extremely awkward conversation as he looked around our place with thinly-veiled horror, he revealed that he had made millions off some (now-defunct) dot-com and had bought an "estate" (his words, not ours) in the South Bay.

Needless to say, in light of that story, you will not be surprised to see that the remainder of this entry is not directed at us. If you have low rent and a cute place (lucky you!), that HGTV show Small Space Big Style wants to drop by! Small Space Big Style is scouting for San Francisco locations for next season, and if you're interested in applying, click here for more information.

Spaces must be under 1000 sq. feet but can be apartments, houses, houseboats, yurts, or any other type of living space, as long as it's under 1000 square feet. Ideally, you'll have something kinda funky about your place too, like everything is made of hemp, or it used to be a bordello. They will not redo your place for you; it needs to already be "big style" to be featured.

If you also have a weird putting green carpet in your place, you should definitely apply. We never figured out what to do with that aspect of our old place.
