One of the names on everyone's lips this Fall TV season is "Martha," and it's a tribute to her growing fame (or more appropriately, infamy) that she no longer needs the "Stewart" at all. Her version of "The Apprentice" doesn't premiere until next week, but her daily show, called simply "Martha," natch, debuts today, locally on NBC at 3 p.m. (with rebroadcasts nightly at 6 p.m. on The Learning Channel). We're unabashed Martha-lovers, but we have to admit we're looking forward to this premiere with equal parts dread and excitement. Anyone who's watched Martha's previous show knows that when she's alone with a glue gun or saute pan, she's pretty good. But the minute you put another human being with her, things get awkward (we will grant she's pretty good when her guests are Muppets). She gets very tense, always has to have the last word, is a terrible interviewer, and can't wing it off-script very well. And when things go wrong? Whoa. So this show, which will feature special guests as well as crafty demonstrations, all shot before a live audience, sounds like it could be a trainwreck. Of course, that doesn't mean we won't be tuning in!
