Just to confirm what we were all hoping would happen...okay, it's offical now, SixApart bought LiveJournal. So you can all start discussing it, as soon as you read Mena's fabulous primer on 6A (she's one of the people in charge over at 6A), and Brad's awesome explanation of what this means for LJ (he's one of the guys in charge at LJ). There are, incidentally, dozens of navel-gazing trackbacks to Mena's blog and thousands of hysterical comments on Brad's blog. If you ever needed a clearer illustration of the difference between the two services, well...there you go. Not to generalize, of course.

Some of the reasons that Brad cites for joining forces with 6A:

"* Our companies are more alike than different. * We both use Perl. * Together we form super robot that's stronger than the sum of its parts. * Super robots can fight super companies. * They respect us, we respect them. * We have a number of features they don't. * We have experience with making "inward-facing" community sites, whereas their sites/products tend to be "outward-facing". They want some of that inward-facing action. * Because we're awesome."

Oh, well, as long as they're awesome, we'll stand behind them. So whoo, congrats to our favorite blogfriends.

And in related news, we're on pins and needles awaiting the impending return of LJDrama.org. Yay drama!
