SFist is proud to be a product of public high school. Not only did our sports teams lay waste to the local private schools (well, except for the Catholic schools), we beat them academically, too. And we had a rockin' band!

Thing is, we had books, and instruments, and sports equipment. These days public schools, especially here in the Bay Area, aren't always so lucky. There have been so many cutbacks to city and state budgets that the bare necessities for both basic studies and extra-curricular activities sometimes have to come out of teacher, parent and student pockets. SixApart's Ginevra tipped us off to a way to support local students and get crunk at the same time. We quote:

The first ever Valencia Street Fair is being held this Sunday. You love this street. You've gotten really drunk there. You've bought an apple from the corner market. You've eaten brie from Lucca. You've walked up and down, waiting for the bus. That may have been you peeing behind that car at 1am last night. Please come support our neighborhood and have some fun! Local shops, DJ's, live music and food all going to benefit Mission High's arts and music program and Centro Latino.

So go shake your booty and stuff your cakehole on the hippest street in the city for a good cause, people! These kids are so going to be taking care of you in a nursing home someday, and you better hope they're edubecated.
