SFist is a big fan of all things breakfast, especially when these things involve giant pink napkins, the way they did at Sears Fine Foods. If you don't know Sears, it's located at 439 Powell (just up from Borders). Sears first opened about half a block away from their present location in 1938, and moved to their present space in 1964.

They're not joking when they say that their Swedish pancakes are world famous. On a Saturday or Sunday morning, there was always a group waiting comprised of serious SF natives, more recent hipsters, and tourists from around the world.

But Sears fell upon hard times in 2003. Debt, labor woes, and some unfortunate business decisions impelled the owners to close the restaurant on December 29, 2003.
