Ever wonder if San Francisco really has soul? Far be it from SFist to answer such existential questions, but we can recommend that you at least attempt a meeting with one of Motown's finest: Smokey Robinson.
The songwriter behind "Ooo Baby Baby" and "Tears Of A Clown" will be hitting various spots around the bay area this Monday and Tuesday to promote his latest stab at world domination. Songwriter, Performer, Actor, purveyor of Food Products? That's right, unbeknownst to SFist, Smokey Robinson has been quietly pursuing the career path pioneered by fellow famous person, Paul Newman. What's really cool here is that instead of salad dressing (which implies that you actually will have fresh food to go with it), Smokey is proffering the salvation of most young urbanite's diet: Microwaveable Dinners. If it has to nuked, it's definitely tastier, and Smokey is capitalizing on this proven fact with the introduction of the Soul is in the Bowl Seafood Gumbo and Red Beans & Rice.
You can catch Smokey at local Albertsons stores. You get extra SFist credit if you send us a picture of you with Smokey and/or sing a little of his own music to him. Write to the editor with your pictures or stories.
