SFist has been told by our coworker that it is our sworn duty to end up passed out in a gutter tonight. We humbly accept this mission, and encourage everyone to do the same. We'd like to suggest some places where you can get liquored up enough to do just that on this beautiful Friday evening:
Lindy-hop the night away with the band that local jazz legend Johnny Otis (father of Shuggie) says is "a breath of fresh air," Lavay Smith & Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers. Check out the Cafe Du Nord website for tickets.
Another one of our favorite venues, the Boom Boom Room, will be hosting the violin-and-vocal stylings of New orleans-based Theresa Andersson, who you may or may not remember from Anders Osborne's band. SFist has a soft spot for anything N'Awlins.
For a unique experience available only here in San Francisco, check out Stan Schaff's Electronic Orchestra at the Audium - a venue that Stan Schaff built specifically for his compositions. Using dozens of speakers and the acoustics of his specially designed theater, he creates truly unique spatial, sonic experiences every Friday and Saturday at 8:30.
Our pick will be bar-hopping Telegraph Hill and following the sounds of saxophones from block to block at the North Beach Jazz Festival, which will be going on all weekend. Special concerts in Washington Square Park will be absolutely 100% free all weekend. Check it out!
