It was fancy car v fancy car on Van Ness Avenue Monday afternoon, when the driver of a sliver Mercedes smashed into the front of a San Francisco Tesla dealership.

CBS 5 reports that the crash occurred Monday at the intersection of Van Ness and O'Farrell Street.

According to an SFMTA spokesperson who talked to the Chron, a little before 2 p.m. the driver of the Mercedes "apparently tried to change lanes, hit the curb then panicked and hit the gas...The driver reportedly hit a tree, a mailbox, a Muni sign and a traffic control box before running into the dealership."

The driver, who the Chron says was injured in the crash, "smashed through the large plate glass window, sending debris and a huge piece of glass onto the sidewalk," CBS 5 reports.

The damage to the traffic control box knocked out the traffic lights at the intersection, the Chron reports, but though "Red flashing lights were installed within 15 minutes...cars crossing the intersection still frequently stopped and honked at each other."

If those cars were really honking at one another without driver intervention, as that sentence suggests, Elon Musk is right: The AI rebellion has truly begun, and this was merely an opening salvo in the war between the cars. Pick your side now, weak and fleshy humans!

A mugger in a Mercedes robbed at least two victims Monday during an evening shakedown in the Mission.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, the male victims (aged 36 and 30) were walking on 23rd Street near Folsom Street at 10:30 p.m. when the crime occurred.

Two suspects in their 20s approached the men on foot, police say, Suddenly, one of the suspects pulled out a gun, and demanded their property.

The victims handed over their cell phones, wallets, a backpack, and $40, police say.

The suspects then "jumped into a white Mercedes and fled," heading south on Folsom, police say. (It's worth noting that a rash of Noe Valley-area crimes were ascribed to suspects in a white Mercedes back in 2015. According to Noe Valley SF, those suspects were not ever arrested.) They remain at large, and no arrests have been made in the case.

Mercedes Driver Strikes Pedestrian, Speeds Away

An early morning collision between a driver and a pedestrian sent the latter to the hospital -- and the former fleeing from the San Francisco intersection where the crash occurred.

SF News

collision

hit-and-run

mercedes

sfpd

tendernob

Eve Batey

An early morning collision between a driver and a pedestrian sent the latter to the hospital — and the former fleeing from the San Francisco intersection where the crash occurred.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, it was 1:30 a.m. when a 58-year-old man attempted to cross at the intersection of Sutter and Larkin Streets.

That's when, police say, the driver of a black Mercedes struck the victim, leaving him with "head injuries and pain to nose and mouth."

That intersection, as you can see above, is regulated by a four-way traffic signal. Citing the ongoing investigation, police did not provide information on which party was crossing on the signal, or if the motorist was turning when they struck the victim.

According to SFPD spokesperson Officer Carlos Manfredi, "the most important thing a driver can do" following a crash is "remain on the scene...by failing to do that, you turn a collision into a hit-and-run." And that's what happened here, as police say that the driver in this case fled the scene, and remains at large as of publication time.

The victim, police say, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. He was transported to San Francsico General Hospital, where he remains as of Wednesday morning.

Black Mercedes Sought In Potrero Hill Shooting

On Monday morning at around 8:30 a.m., a man was shot in Portrero Hill near <a href="h...

SF News

cars

crime

mercedes

potrero hill

shooting

Brock Keeling

On Monday morning at around 8:30 a.m., a man was shot in Portrero Hill near Dakota and 23rd streets.
