Well, the gay blogs are making quick work of this one: A Boston-based porn star posted an innocent photo on Facebook, taken yesterday, of himself kissing his husband, and because it was two men with beards, we suppose, someone was able to get it flagged as inappropriate. A war is now ensuing.

Jesse Jackman says that after he posted the above photo, and after a couple thousand likes and a couple hundred comments in less than 24 hours, Facebook sent him a notice saying that he was in violation of their "community standards." Among the comments, he said, were a number of the Christian-based hatred variety, and a couple of death threats from one individual in particular.

The photo, which depicts he and husband Dirk Caber from the shoulders up, is just two men kissing. The end. At least one person who apparently has quite a lot of time for prayer, given the volume of gay kissing that is happening at every second on this planet, wrote, "I will pray for these guys, God loves the sinner, hates the sin."

We're pretty sure it just takes a couple people deeming something "inappropriate" for Facebook to react, but shouldn't someone there have vetted this choice?

Jackman writes:

I received multiple public death threats after posting this photo, endured countless homophobic slurs, and received dozens upon dozens of hate-filled messages, and yet Facebook did nothing about those disgusting comments, choosing to censor love instead of hate… This is a travesty. Hate must not be allowed to prevail in this world.

A movement is afoot with the Twitter hashtag #FacebookKissOff, and we'll see if this gets any traction. In any event: sad.

Today at Chick-Fil-A stores throughout the country, same-sex couples are expected to turn out heavily to protest company president and COO Dan Cathy's comments supporting "the biblical definition of the family unit" — as well as the fast food company's money trail leading to anti-civil rights initiatives, including Focus on the Family and bogus "gay therapy" programs. As the official National Same Sex Kiss Day at Chick Fil A Facebook page sarcastically notes, "August 3rd is National Same Sex Kiss Day at Chick Fil A to say a big 'Thank you' to the company for their support of love, equality, and the really definition of marriage."

Although it should go without saying, Mr. Cathy does have the right to put forth whatever harmful point of view he wants. That's his constitutional right. We are all aware of this, yes? However, and this is where some on the far-right get confused, the good people of the United States are then allowed to respond in protest. That's how that nifty First Amendment doohickey works. Anyway, if you would like to french kiss inside of a fast food restaurant, today you're golden. Just remember to order stuff or else risk being tossed out for loitering. Have... fun?

In related Chick-fil-A news, a cheeky petition has called for the company to only serve the straight chickens, while misguided vandals in Torrance, Calif. painted "tastes like hate" on the wall of a Chick-fil-A.

L-Word actress and musician Leisha Hailey took to Twitter yesterday after Southwest Airlines booted her and her girlfriend from a flight for kissing. According to Hailey, "Flt. attendant said that it was a 'family' airline and kissing was not ok." She followed up with, "We were escorted off the plane for getting upset about the issue. @SouthwestAir endorses homophobic employees. No one made her accountable," going so far as to ask for a boycott, saying, "I know plenty of wonderful same sex families I would like to introduce them to. Boycott @SouthwestAir if you are gay. They don't like us."

Southwest Airlines, who "take pride in [their] outreach and commitment to the GLBT community," responded with the following (very vague) statement:

Initial reports indicate that we received several passenger complaints characterizing the behavior as excessive. Our crew, responsible for the comfort of all Customers on board, approached the passengers based solely on behavior and not gender. The conversation escalated to a level that was better resolved on the ground, as opposed to in flight. We regret any circumstance where a passenger does not have a positive experience on Southwest and we are ready to work directly with the passengers involved to offer our heartfelt apologies for falling short of their expectations.

Granted PDA can be frustrating if excessive or if you're a bitter lonely queen. However, we were on a Southwest flight from John Wayne Airport to SFO this month where a woman sporting long pigtails well into her late 30s/early 40s sat on her boyfriend's lap in the terminal and during part of the flight, making out most of the time. No one said a word. A kerfuffle was never raised. (Also, she was wearing a "nerds have bigger hard drives" skank tank. Which, double ew.)

This most recent incident comes on the heels of Southwest barring noted director Kevin Smith from flying, claiming he was too fat, and grounding Billie Joe Armstrong, because his pants were too saggy.
