Paris is burning.
Radically self-reliant hotel heiress Paris Hilton has decided to spend a few nights in Black Rock City, the temporary Burning Man society in the Nevada desert where, lol, money doesn't matter. Hilton, 35, has of course been updating her faithful fans from her new desert home via Twitter and Instagram. Elite Daily quips that If Paris Hilton Can Survive Burning Man, Anyone Can, but I beg to differ. Hilton has weathered worse! Recall her many humiliating turns on breakout reality TV show The Simple Life, in which she bravely slummed it on minimum wage, even working as a farm hand (gross!).
There's also the time, as People recalls, that Hilton went to jail for 45 days in 2007 for violating her probation in a drunk-driving related case. "I'm so much more grateful for everything that I have," she reportedly told Ryan Seacrest at the time, "even just to have a pillow at night or food."
Hey, if Burning Man weren't attended by members of the capitalist elite the event implicitly critiques, would it even be ironic and fun to talk about? And plus, now when your friends get back with tales from the playa, and you get bored or jealous, just ask them if they saw Paris Hilton there, like they did at Coachella nine times. They'll probably shut up!
