A Bernal Heights man is in custody today, after he allegedly tried to burn his house down after he was told that he was being evicted.

According to a tweet from SF Firefighters 798, SFFD was called to the blaze on the 600 block of Anderson Street at around 7:41 Tuesday night.

The San Francisco Police Department says that a 35-year-old man who lived in the residence was "notified that he was being evicted" by his 60-year-old landlady.

"A short time later a fire started in the house," and the man was detained by the officers who responded to the scene, police say.

"Initial reports said a mother stated that her son 'had a knife,'" KRON4 reports, but a call to SFPD for clarification of that detail (was the landlady also the suspect's mom, for example?) and further information on the case had not been responded to at publication time.

According to SFPD, the woman who informed the alleged arsonist of his eviction was unharmed in the incident, and losses due to the fire were minimal.
