See and be seen at these select San Francisco shows, parties, and events. You know, because you can't read the Internet all the time.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 4

HOTEL PARTY: Local dream-pop artist Day Wave spends the day checking out the Tenderloin's Phoenix Hotel in search of the perfect spot for an evening performance. Then Day Wave gives the performance. Described as "intimate." 601 Eddy Street, 6 p.m., Free with RSVP

CONCERT: Locals play Monday nights, and so it is with Hot Flash Heat Wave who headline this performance at Rickshaw Stop. Listen to the song Jacuzzi because that one is fun. The guys are preceded by Southern California's Kera and the Lesbians and Brentwood's Summer Peaks. It's an all ages show, in case that matters to you. 155 Fell Street, 8 p.m., $10

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5

PHOTOGRAPHY OPENING: In the side gallery at Rayko Photo Center, admire San Francisco's neon signs of this and yesteryear. With their project now a book, Survivors and Lost Icons (Giant Orange Press), Al Barna and Randall Ann Homan "shed new light on the backdrop and the history of the city’s neon signs, the luminous beacons that help tell the story of the town’s neighborhoods, its nightlife and its fun-loving nature." A reception and signing are planned for the evening. 428 3rd Street, 6 p.m., Free

DANCE PREMIERE: SF Native and "faux queen" trixxie carr goes Oscar Wilde with Salome, Dance For Me at the New Conservatory Theatre. The work is also an adaptation of the opera by Richard Strauss, and of course it all goes back to the infamous biblical tale. Between the vocals, moves, costumes, you'd better "hold onto your head." 25 Van Ness, 8 p.m., $20-25

THURSDAY, AUGUST 6

COMEDY: Returning to camp with the new Netflix Wet Hot American Summer show? Then why not see the hilarious Janeane Garofalo, who plays the camp director, in person this week at the Punchline? As we all know, she's fucking great. 444 Battery Street, 8 p.m., $25

TRIBUTE: Pay homage to Whitney Houston with this 1999 Birthday Celebration at Raven thanks to DJ Mark Andrus. By the way, and sorry for the fact check buzzkill, but the late singer was actually born on the 9th. She would be 52 on that day. 1151 Folsom Street, 9 p.m., Free

FRIDAY, AUGUST 7

AFTERPARTY: After the sun (hahaha) sets on Outside Lands, the "Queen of Bounce" holds court. With others like Star Slinger, New Orleans' big Freedia promises that there will be "ass everywhere," so get yours over to 1015 Folsom. 1015 Folsom Street, 10 p.m., $20

ANOTHER CONCERT: The Independent snagged an evening show with bluesy up-and-comer Leon Bridges. Get tickets if you like him, since you may not see his Outside Lands act, for which he's in town, as it's pretty early in the afternoon and maybe you aren't going to OSL, I can't tell. 628 Divisadero, 9:30, $25

SATURDAY, AUGUST 8

GARAGE SALE: Scour beautiful Bernal Heights for lightly used treasures at HillWide. The annual network of garage sales — look at the map, everyone and their neighbor has something to offer — is perhaps the largest such event in SF. Bernal Heights, 9 a.m., Free

BIG GAY DANCE PARTY: The new weekly blowout at Empire Ballroom, which we talked about a couple weeks ago, continues this week with an Empire Strikes Back theme. It'll feature music from DJ Kidd Madonny — who comes complete with his own special effects and lighting, via his Miami design and production firm — Juan Garcia, and others in the House Room off to the side. 555 Golden Gate Avenue, 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., $20 before 11

SUNDAY, AUGUST 9

CHEESE MAKING: Burrata. You love it, or you are a vegan. Cheesemaking authority and teacher Louella Hill can show you how to make your own at Omnivore Books. 3885a Cesar Chavez Street, 3 p.m., Free

DOGS AND WINE: Bored of the dog park? Get day drunk with your darling dog on Treasure Island at a special event held by The Winery SF. RSVP and get $3 off a flight of wine. Water flights for your dog are presumably free. 200 California Ave, Bldg 180 North, Treasure Island, 12 p.m., Free
