Following our report last week that Mission gay bar Truck is set to close fairly soon, a tipster sent in the public notice of the liquor license transfer which has the DBA for the new project: The Wooden Nickel.

A quick check of the application shows us that it's a partnership of three women who are taking over the place, one of whom is Cassy Fritzen who will be known to some as a bartender at Zeitgeist and Bender's. The other partners are Shannon Lynn and Nancy Chung.

It should be noted that Truck's liquor license is one that requires food service, and the place has long had a kitchen which was used less and less in recent years except for pop-ups. So, expect The Wooden Nickel to be some sort of pub with food — though we'll update you once we get more concrete details.

It seems safe to assume at this point, however, that the place is not going to continue to be a gay bar. At least, not a gay men's bar.
