The one-year anniversary of the great Batkid brouhaha that turned five-year-old Make-a-Wish kid Miles Scott into a national celebrity just arrived on Saturday. And we're happy to inform you that Miles, now six, is still in remission for his leukemia, and is doing just fine, as KTVU reports. He lives in Siskiyou County with his parents, and he just started first grade.

Industrial Light and Magic engineer Mike Jutan, who played The Penguin, and inventor Eric Johnston, who played Batman, both got together Saturday with Miles and his family and some of the staff who put the event together last year for a private gathering, as ABC 7 reports. "It was such an opportunity to see the magic that Make a Wish does all the time," says Jutan. And because of Batkid, Make a Wish Greater Bay Area has seen an uptick in donations, and a 45-percent increase in the number of wishes being made. They're now on track to grant the most wishes in a single year that they ever have.

Meanwhile, as we heard a few months back, there's a documentary in the works about Batkid Day, and it easily racked up funding from over 900 contributors, exceeding its IndieGoGo campaign by almost $10,000.
