It’s no Googleplex, but you’ll soon see a lot more Googlers around the Embarcadero. Last week, the company closed a deal to buy 188 Embarcadero and lease space at One Market Street, near its San Francisco office at 345 Spear Street.

As Bloomberg reports, Google paid $65 million for the eight-story, Embarcadero property at the corner of Bayside Plaza and Howard Street. Constructed in 1985, the building clocks in at 88,000 square feet and has waterfront views on all sides. It’s about two blocks away from Google’s current office.

At nearby One Market Street, Google will lease 250,000 square feet in the 42-story Spear Tower, reportedly taking over floors two through 16.

Mayor Ed Lee's office has welcomed the company’s S.F. expansion with open arms. The San Jose Mercury News quoted spokeswoman Christine Falvey as saying Google "demonstrated that they really have the San Francisco values that the mayor has been trying to impart to other companies.”

The company has yet to comment on what it plans to do with the new spaces, but you might want to enjoy the Ferry Building before it's completely overrun with Googlers.
