An international consulting firm has just published a list of the Top 10 Happiest Cities in the world, and San Francisco is the only U.S. city to make the cut, ranking seventh. This is welcome news, especially because we're no longer the gayest city according to some dumb gay magazine that is barely even a magazine anymore so we won't even mention it.

Other happy cities include Rio de Janeiro, Madrid, Sydney, Paris, and Amsterdam — not the least of which for its 220 "coffee shops" that allow people to just sit around and smile and laugh at everything.

The list is actually based on a "global perception survey" by the firm GFK Custom Research, as well as the number of outdoor attractions, shopping centers, culture attractions, performances, and "amusements." So, yes, it's just another random list to throw in the ever growing virtual pile the internet gives us every day. But it's a fine pat on the back, especially on this gorgeous sunny Wednesday in February in the most beautiful city in the country, if not the world. Congratulations, everyone.
