The gorgeous proposed condo tower at the foot of Van Ness Avenue, dubbed One Van Ness, has moved one step forward toward becoming a reality with a more fully fleshed out design proposal. Architect Richard Meier, famous for his modern white forms and especially for the Getty Center in Los Angeles, designed the building, which features a sculptural, diaphanous white glass skin wrapping the building.

The proposal is for a 37-story tower with 258 condos ranging in size from 500 to 2,500 square feet. In the latest drawings we also have the addition of a new "wind canopy" that would cover Oak Street along the block on the north side of the building, creating a pedestrian plaza. Unfortunately, the All-Star Donut building right at the corner remains in place in the current proposal. It will be kind of ugly sitting there once this building goes up, but a lot could happen between now and then. This building still needs to go to Planning, design review, and all that.
