Jeez. According to @abc7newsbayarea, this officer (one of several) was drenched in a substance believed to be yellow paint during today's May Day protest in Oakland. As SFist reported earlier that paint was used as a weapon during tonight's unrest. Following a scuffle between the fuzz and civilian, "fellow protesters responded by throwing bottles and paint balloons at officers. The officers responded by charging at the crowd and issuing a dispersal order."

Police cruisers were later pelted with paint bombs, and one police vehicle was reportedly set ablaze. At least 23 people have been arrested so far during the demonstration in Oakland, one of several that took place throughout the country on Tuesday.
