A mid-day rain threatened to sog the throng of protesters who gathered at the Federal Reserve at 101 Market Street today, but luckily the squall passed and the march proceeded as planned. By the time the sidewalk marchers made it to Civic Center, and decided to cross the street at 7th and thereby hang up traffic for a few minutes around 1 p.m., SFist estimates the group was about 300 or 400 strong, with extending up and down Market about two to three blocks at a stretch, chanting "We are the 99%," etc. We heard one young marcher shout (condescendingly?) to some elderlies and immigrants gathered by the Carl's Jr. at 7th and Market, "C'mon! Join in! It's democracy! It's kind of fun!"
