This morning's grab bag of delights from Chuck Nevius includes the amusing story of a lesbian couple who were holding hands while browsing the Gertrude Stein exhibit at the Contemporary Jewish Museum recently when a guard told them they had to cut it out. Allegedly he said they were not allowed to hold hands in the museum.

This, of course, incited a fury. The couple began arguing with the guard. Soon a crowd formed. The guard tried to get rid of them due to the attention and noise he was now attracting. The women went further, saying, "'No we are not leaving and we want to talk to somebody in authority right now."

Nevius's witness, also a lesbian, called out, "Does anyone see the irony here?" given that they were at an exhibit about Gertrude Stein, arguably one of the first famous and out lesbians.

In any event, the museum distanced themselves from the issue, saying the guard was from an independent security service. He has since been "reprimanded."
