Yesterday's rumor from the generally reliable Matier & Ross speculating that Nat Ford was in the running for BART's top spot was apparently way off base. According to a couple members of BART's Board of Directors, the commuter rail agency doesn't want Nat Ford heading up their operation any more than Muni did. The Examiner got a couple directors on record:

'In this director’s opinion, those reports are 100 percent wrong,' said BART board member Lynette Sweet. And Director Tom Radulovich called the report 'not accurate.'

Ford did not return a call for comment.

Sure, there's always the chance that the other 7 directors on the Board are all jazzed up about Nat Ford, but at this point it seems safe to assume BART will be spared the Ford fallout. In the meantime, BART directors are interviewing candidates this week and could be announcing their selection for the new General Manager by the end of the week, but more reasonable estimates say the announcement will come by the end of September.
