The main problem with most pieces of art is that you're not supposed to drink beer out of them. We know this from first hand experience. It's why we're not allowed in the de Young anymore. Heh. Anyway.

Think about all the times you’ve seen depictions of the Mona Lisa, which one did you enjoy most? Was it the original, hanging dull and beer-free in a stogy French museum? Or, rather, was it the one printed on the oversize, Peroni-filled beer mug at the tacky chain Italian restaurant you went to for Aunt Alice’s birthday the night you got too drunk and accidentally knocked a plate of lasagna out of the waitress's hand and all over the birthday girl's secret hairpiece?

On second thought, don’t answer that.

Next Thursday, DIY hotspot Workshop SF and Noise Pop host The Beer Koozie Art Show--an exhibition/workshop dedicated to bringing this oft-ignored canvas out of the tailgate party and into the art gallery. Not only will the show display mixed-media koozie works by 20 local artists but there’s also a make-your-own-koozie station where can you can unleash your inner koozie Kandinsky while DJ Rick Moranis spins a selection of prog-rock and metal that’s sure to get your creative, and fermented, juices flowing.
