New Muni Shelters Not So Good for Sideways Rain

New Muni Shelters Not So Good for Sideways Rain

Were you waiting for a bus out in the rain this weekend? Were you under one of the 91 new red or yellow-roofed Muni Shelters? And if you were, how did you ever manage to stay dry? With last weekend's sporadic, and occasionally violent, downpours the Examiner has received some surprising reports that the new shelters leave 25 - 33% of would-be straphangers out in the rain. Occasionally, the seats are even soggy!

The Ex also points out architects at Lundberg Design tested the new shelters for raindrops falling at up to 45 degrees, but even that threshold might be too low in a city where the rain is just as likely to be falling directly in your face.
