You guys, this a totally brilliant idea. The Mission is already saturated with every type of media, so why not make it the most interesting kind? A comic book! Lauren Davis, the brain behind the endeavor, a freelance writer and editor who's worked with io9, Comic Book Resources, and h+ Magazine, is doing just that. She has lined up an amazing crew of artists, including Jamaica Dyer (Weird Fishes), Ariel Schrag (Awkward, Definition, Potential, Likewise), Shaenon Garrity (Narbonic, Skin Horse), Andrew Farago (Curator of the Cartoon Art Museum), Mario Hernandez (Love and Rockets, Citizen Rex, Mister X), Jonas Madden-Connor (Ochre Ellipse) and Rio Yanez (Hell@ Mission for Mission Loc@l). That's a lot of talent.

Marina residents, never fear, Davis hopes this is the first of many comic books featuring neighborhoods in SF and beyond. Besides, we've always wanted to read an entire comic about how to properly bronze your cleavage. Tired joke, we know. No hate, we got nothing but love for your hot sexy bronzed cleavage. Anyway, Davis is accepting submissions at [email protected]. Visit Skoda Man Press for more details.

The deadline for finished pieces is September 20th, and while you're not guaranteed admission into the comic, it never hurts to try. Dream big, little dreamer.
