Ed Perkins, the man arrested for allegedly killing Stephen Powell and wounding two others at Saturday's Pink Saturday in the Castro, will not be charged with with murder. BCN (via SF Appeal) notes, "Ed Perkins, 20, was charged late this afternoon with possessing a concealed weapon and possessing a loaded weapon, but officials do not believe he is responsible for the shooting, the district attorney's office said."
It is believed that the real killer is still on the loose.
SF Weekly points out, "The DA's office noted that the police have determined that none of the seven bullets recovered from Saturday's barrage of gunfire matched the .357 caliber revolver found in Perkins' possession -- and no witnesses could place him on the scene of the shooting."
In fact, Perkins didn't even shoot his gun. Why he was hanging out at a predominantly gay event is another issue altogether.
