While everyone and their pet goldfish thinks they're the only ones to have predicted that SF Mayor Gavin Newsom would withdraw his bid for California governor -- in related news, we predict you will have a bowel movement within the next 24 hours! -- this has been ancient watercooler talk for months. Why, just last week, if you recall, Newsom not only denied but chided reporters for having the gall to question him about it.
"You [reporters] have to put to rest the absurdity," Newsom said at an unrelated event [last week], reports the Examiner. "It’s Jerry Brown who is putting those rumors out, and you guys shouldn’t be taking the bait on that."
So, does this mean Newsom will instead run for lieutenant governor on Brown's ticket, the other absurd rumor he denied that turned out to be true? We shall see. He's dying to get out of San Francisco one way or another, so this wouldn't be too far off. Take the bait, Gav.

How much did the Getty's pay to get this years Mrs. Newsom on that ridiculous one season wonder Trauma? They both need to go somewhere else and charm some really stupid people. You know, more stupid than the average San Franciscan voter who considers charm, prettiness and sound bites when choosing their political leaders.

A first-term congressman can't do much damage. Run for the 10th district out here in bridge and tunnel land, the one Tauscher abdicated to go suck up to the Obama administration. You don't have to live in the district, like Garamendi, and the rest of the candidates are all halfwits.

Maybe he can move to Vacaville and play kick the can all day long out there. He and Daly can get together for lunch at Chin Hua and create a new utopia for all of mankind.
I doubt that would happen though, because the mayor of Vacaville only gets $18,500 in yearly salary, no armed chauffeur and he would have to learn to wipe his own ass.
