Gov. Schwarzenegger to Tom Ammiano & SF: F*ck You

The fine folks over at SFBG did a little sleuthing over Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's recent vetoing of Assemblymember Tom Ammiano's AB 1176, a simple bill that involved the Port of San Francisco and some sort of financing issues. Basic stuff, really. According to SFBG Editor Tim Redmond, "It’s the kind of bill that legislators offer on behalf of their cities all the time," the kind of bill that is routinely passed.

But, lo and behold, Schwarzenegger vetoed the bill. Why? Well, here's the explanatory letter he sent Ammiano:

Do you see what he did there? Look at it again. If you still don't see it, SFBG will explain everything.

Anyway, Redmond sums it up better than we can, saying, "What an asshole. No wonder it's hard to get anything done in Sacramento; the gov's office is full of frat boys spending hours (and it would have taken hours to get this exactly right) making stupid little-boy jokes."

Arnold's letter could be in response to Ammiano's recent outburst at the Governor during the Democratic County Central Committee gala. If you recall, the Assemblymember shouted to Schwarzenegger, among other things, to "kiss my gay ass."

(and it would have taken hours to get this exactly right)

I don't know about this.

He's been threatening this for awhile, and I don't blame him. The CA legislature is a gridlocked mess that has been completely unable to address the major threats to California. The Governor doesn't have many tools at his disposal, and the veto is one of them. Instead of calling the Governor an asshole for, you know, actually trying to lead, why don't you call your assemblyman and/or state senator and tell them to pull their heads out of their asses and actually get real work done.

what we need is a ballot initiative to eliminate the gridlock.

For all the commenters that prattle on here, don't think you go
unnoticed. The worst part of this is that you're
completely oblivious to the gist of this article. Yet another citizen of Arnold's
Kalifornia.

You're completely ready to let this jackass of a Governor
off the hook? It boggles my mind that you can get yourself to the internet and still not
understand how badly the state needs a Governor to lead maturely.

Whew. Nice to have that off my chest.

Who is this "Yonu" of whom you speak?

+1 for the attempt

Fantastic!
Unfortunately, things are gridlocked that
California can't get anything done. We need to
Kill any legislative measures that are tedious for now.

You know?
Oh, who am I kidding?
Underwear should always be edible.

I hope you have enough room for my acrostic poem because I'm going to RAM it into your stomach.

If this isn't a total fake, I'll kick a can down an alley

Looks like the text is accurate.

Not sure about the layout of the letter, though. Where did SFBG get the image?

Can we get a reset button for California government please? kthxbai

Agreed Oznog. I actually thought it was kind of a funny (if puerile) retort to Ammiano's own juvenile offering.

And whatever SFBG with the "frat boy" comment. First of all I'm sure that's not entirely accurate, and could you pick a lamer target? Plus, would it be so much better if the gov's office were full of, I dunno, indie hipster ninnies? Strident ideologues? Whining newspapermen / women?

-Not a frat boy

Plus, would it be so much better if the gov's office were full of, I dunno, indie hipster ninnies? Strident ideologues? Whining newspapermen / women?

Who knows? It's not like any of that would ever be allowed to happen.

Districting reform is one way we will hopefully at least partly deal with legislative gridlock.
In the meantime, a less intransigent governor with leadership, who doesn't throw
tantrums would go a very long way. It's funny that Schwarzenegger implies leadership on
things like "water reform" when his big "reforms" are unoriginal ideas like dams and
other non-solutions without any sense of innovation or responsibility.

Tom Ammiano is a moron, I don't blame the Terminator

Ahem...

Ammiano to Schwarzenegger: "Kiss my gay ass"

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/nov05election/detail?entry_id=49163

He's just returning the favor

It is valid to question the decorum and prudence of Ammiano's statements, but they were off-hand remarks made at a democratic fundraiser. Blockage of a bill and the (alleged) intentional incorporation of such an insult into an official gubernatorial communication is on an different level entirely. Joe Wilson's now infamous exclamation is likewise very different from Ammiano's actions. We may yearn for greater civility in all arenas, but a wrong and a really wrong don't make a right.

The Gov has as least plausible deniability. As for Amiano, there's no doubt: He's an ass.

Given that the original memo was formatted with the acrostic present, that deniability seems very tenuous. Furthermore, I think you may have missed my point: Ammiano may have been rude, but Schwarzenegger vetoed a bill. I imagine that even tit-for-tat proponents would see that aspect of the Gub's response as disproportionate.

agreed. ammiano is the classic san franciscan -- SO much more clever and righteous than anyone else, and unwavering in his belief that he should be able to say and do whatever he wants, naturally without extending that privilege to anyone else -- except those also possessed of unquestionable moral authority (and hipness).

in this case, what's good for the silly goose is also good for the gander.

Bring back Gray Davis!

Just kidding...but seriously Arnold Fucking Schwarzewomanizersteroidenegger? California really shoots itself in the ass far too many times for this to be a fluke.

The fact that an ineffective moron like Gavin Newsom thinks he has a shot is a testament to the stupidity of the average California voter.

You people *did* vote for him twice, no?

Ask yourself why, then when you start to see stars and get dizzy from thinking too hard, punch yourself in the nose for being such an uninformed idiot.

Porkbun, I got the layout right off the gov's own site and took the image directly from there.

http://gov.ca.gov/pdf/press/2009bills/AB1176_Ammiano_Veto_Message.pdf

And if you check the update on my blog, the gov's press office is saying, with clear sarcasm, that it's "just a strange coincidence." They know they did it, and they're proud of it.

Arnold's an asshole. But then again so's Ammiano.

They deserve each other, both more flash than substance, always looking for the perfect quip.

Well...did he kiss Ammiano's gay ass or not??

I

The next gov would likely not have even a shadow of Arnold's sense of humor.
