Taqueria Closed

burritocat.jpg

The benevolent folks at Mission Mission report that Taqueria Cancun is closed. Further reports indicate that the oddly popular taco joint is closed temporarily, due to a water pipe break. Fortunately, you can get the same slop at any number of other taquerias littering San Francisco's Mission district. Crisis averted! (via MM, Eater)

If you're staggering around drunk looking for a good taco, I recommend swinging by La Oaxaquena.

Don't you dare! I don't want to have to wait in line to get my spicy pork tacos.

But seriously, the folk who run La Oaxaquena are great and they make a damn good taco - possibly the best in the mission.

lol.

There's a certain amount of satisfaction that people are such staunch defenders of Cancun, stale chips, filler laden burritos and all. Not to mention that nasty stench at the 6th & Market location (could be the greasy spoon next door, but whatever it is... it's vile even for that part of town).

It's nice to know that there still won't be a line for the best chorizo burritos, killer pico de gallo, and a damn decent veggie burrito (compared to Cancun's onion laden monstrosity) in town, even they're only a block and a half or so away from 6th & Market.

And Chorizo? Last time I looked it was the tastiest part of the pig's lymph system. Damn good Sunday breakfast.

Damn near gave me a heart attack until I saw "temporarily".

haha what the hell is that picture

Taqueria Cancun has more than one location. And actually the one at 6th/Market has better food.

Yes, however. 6th and mission isn't less than a block from my apt—I can't be expected to travel with a hangover.

their only selling point for me is that they're open late and within a walkable distance. even the La Salsaria (or whatever it's called) on 24th/Sanchez is grilling their tortillas now, so the only thing TCC has going for it is location.

Slop? No worries. There's plenty to eat in Cow Hollow. Just stay where you are.

HELLO I AM A PASTY WHITE MIDWESTERN TRANSPLANT WHO BELIEVES YOUR CHOICE IN BURRITOS IS INFERIOR. I HAVE ALMOST LIVED IN YOUR FAIR CITY FOR SIX MONTHS SO I AM CLEARLY AN EXPERT.

P.S. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT CHORIZO IS?

I assume you're trolling for comments by calling Cancun slop.
Consider yourself successful.
Most consistentest tastiest burritoest. Disappointed that their prices have gone up in the last 2 years, but I'll live. It's still comfortably south of $8, and they still deliver a well balanced super burrito alongside the best salsa verde I've ever had. Every time. Plus, I don't have to be asked about every ingredient. I have no interest in watching the sausage/legislation/cabeza super being concocted. I just want the foil-wrapped goodness that erupts from the assembly line.

While we're trolling: Last time I ate at Farolito, I sat a booth over from Hitler.

Hitler prefers El Farolito.

no, nothing of the kind. taquerias, up here, aren't my bag, thus: slop. (while sf is and will always be my home, i fully side south of the grapevine in the norcal/socal burrito war.)
