SFist just received word from an employee near the Levi Plaza (1270 Battery) area that a gunman might -- might! -- be on the loose. The following alert was sent out to Pearson Education (1301 Sansome) employees.

We have just been informed that there is an armed gunman in the neighborhood. The police are looking for him but have not been arrested.
We are locking the main door of the Sansome building the rest of the day.
If you need to leave the building, please be careful and alert. The description of the gunman is male, 6' tall, blonde hair, red jacket. We will send another email once we have more information from the police. Thanks.
So far there are no reports of any injuries. In fact, this hasn't even been confirmed by SFPD so... grain of salt, folks.
Update: No word of man gunman. Alas. But: Pearson Education did send out a very stern letter that asked their employees to never, ever again to forward interoffice memos to media outlets. Heh.

whew! I misread and thought it was red hair in a blonde jacket and was about to drop a dime on one Brock Keeling!
Hmm. I think this is an homage to "Rebel Without A Cause".
Fun fact: so is Philip J. Fry.
Armed gunmen are the worst kind. Much worse than unarmed gunmen.
wish I'd known that before I sat outside by the fountain at Levi Plaza and ate my lunch. Thanks Levi Management for letting the other companies who work in the plaza know.
It's not against the law to carry a concealed gun in CA.
