Perhaps in an effort to veer public opinion away from his decision to legalize gay marriage, San Francisco Mayor and gubernatorial candidate Gavin Newsom defended homophobic Miss California winner and faux-Christian Carrie Prejean.
If you recall, during the Miss USA pageant, the painted whore responded to Perez Hilton's question about same-sex marriage like this: "In my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman." Which? Fine. But then, a few days later, Prejean said, I may not have been politically correct, but I was biblically correct." See, this here is what's vile. Because civil rights and basic human decency have nothing to do with 'political correctness.' And whenever a democrat sits in the Oval office, this kind of shit-stained mindset seems acceptable.
Anyway, while at a bio tech company in La Jolla yesterday, when asked about the hateful state beauty rep's comments, Newsom said "I want to challenge her on her point of view, but she spoke her conscience, I think she's being a little unfairly maligned." Unfairly maligned? Just because you might want to put your penis inside of her and you need SoCal votes, Gav, doesn't mean she's being unfairly picked on. A few closed-fist slaps to her lifeless face? Sure. But if you spew hate on a live televised meat market, you should expect some sort of repercussion. She has her right to have an opinion, of course; but us peons have the right to respond. Always.

Indeed, if you spewing hate TV, you should expect some repercussions. Indeed, if I said something as hateful as this:
"I believe that marriage is the union between a man and a woman, now for me as a Christian, it's also a sacred union, now God's in the mix"
I should totally expect to be elected president of the United State.
Good thing our readers are much more open-minded than NBC Bay Area's blog. Poor Laura Baron's post that you linked to the other day, Brock, has all sorts of hate spewed on it.
So you have a problem with submitting Huckaby to prison gang rape and yet you want to beat this poor, defenseless woman?
Let's just say they both deserve it.
Can someone tell me the difference between what she said and what President Obama's views on the matter are?
....oh wait, they are identical. And you voted for Obama, but are dumping on her because of what she looks like, how racist of you.
Perez Hilton is someone who got famous for scribbling nonsense a 4 year old could do over pix of celebs. He is everything thats wrong with the notion of celebrity and should never be mentioned, ever, in the hope he will go away. Oh, and he was a huge Obama supporter too. Nice hypocracy here everyone.
Aw, this is adorable.
Yeah, her reasons and Obama's reason are somewhat different. Also, you don't know who (or if) any of us voted for during the last election. But thanks for trying!
My god, you're really ignorant. By "identical," do you mean "not really the same at all." And by "racist," do you mean . . . hmm, not sure exactly what you mean there.
Nice try though.
Obama believes in the Christian bible interpretation of marriage. So does blondie. Its identical but only 1 of them is white and easier to hate on. If you hate on blondie you should be hating on Obama's views on gay mariage too, here look:
http://tinyurl.com/cnumuu
Obama is for the full repeal of DOMA. He also understand that in 'our country' gay and lesbian don't actually have the freedom to choose same sex marriage or "opposite sex marriage". His non-support of full marriage equality may or may not be political.
But really, that's neither here nor there. I hold Obama accountable for his heterosexism as well as this Miss California bimbo.
I wouldn't say she spewed any hate, just an inarticulate and poorly informed opinion. From the answer she gave, it was blatantly obvious that she is both profoundly unintelligent and knows absolutely nothing about the issue beyond what her undoubtedly creepy parents told her(let's face it, she's prolly a pageant lifer and anyone who'd stick their kid in a pageant is both morally and ethically questionable.) This is a woman whose job it is to stand there looking like a curvy chunk of plastic. She has clearly never questioned anything. I bet Gavin can relate to her. She should have failed on her blatantly dim intellect alone. The answer she gave is just a symptom of a greater retardness and that's the real problem.
"discrimination," rather than "hate," would have been a better word choice on my end. agreed.
Expecting a slick, image conscious mayor with a history of pandering to any special interest group that will support him to take the moral high ground while running for a statewide office is expecting alot.
The gays better start looking for a new poster boy...
one more time, people:
-the pretty blonde woman is entitled to say anything she likes, as loud as she likes, even in response to goofballs like Perez Hilton. She can "feel" deeply about whatever and say it.
-those who believe in another point of view, are also free to respond, as loud as they like, even in response to pretty blonde women . They can freely express another view.
It's called freedom, people. Everyone gets to have it. Now if only potential future Governors realized that. I guess bravery on same sex marriage only extends to the border of San Francisco when you're running for Governor.
"Whether you like it or not!"
@AYM
Yes, we need to stop caring about what celebrities think. All shes ever done in life was look good, and that doesnt give her a political science degree, so why the fuck does anyone care?
WWJD - What Would Jerry (Brown) Do? Exactly ... other more important things to dwell upon ... like what the hell is going to happen when all (except Proposition 1F) of the May 19th special election items likely go down in flames and we're right back where we started with budget problems for the state?
Ever notice that all the good guys are dead and we now have demons and vampires running amuck? We don’t have any Harvey Milks on our team anymore, all we have are Perez Hiltons and could you imagine Harvey Milk behaving like Perez has.?
Harvey’s approach would have been “It’s a free country, agree to disagree, you don’t agree with my position so I am going to do everything in my power to convince you and people that share your belief to change their mind.”
Vs the Perez throw a giant temper tantrum, go on a witch hunt, and pretty much do far more damage to your on team’s public relations.
I think that’s why Prop 8 passed. We don’t have any Harvey Milks on out team anymore. We have a bunch of bored, LAZY, self-involved douchebags that have no diplomacy skills whatsoever. For as much as the Left loves to hate on Bush, they have the exact same philosophy in their conflict resolution than he does. “You’re either with me or your with the terrorist, there is no middle ground.” And until the Left can get it’s head out of its ass that’s why more legislation like Prop 8 will continue to pass.
Prop 8 won by 2 perecentage points. That's 15 to 20 percentage points since Californians passed prop 21. We have been making serious headway. It's kind of mind-boggling hwat we have accomplished in the last 40 years. Even the last 10 years.
We don't need a Harvey Milk. Gay and Lesbian people are way too diverse to be represented by a leader.
Calling her homophobic is unfair. Just because she believes in traditional marriage does not mean she's anti-gay or a homophobe. Also, calling her a painted whore is just childish. I'm seeing a lot of hate lately and its not from Miss California.
The point here is that Gavin Newsom is and always has been an opportunistic creep.
Thing that no one seems to be pointing out is, her answer was wrong. Her actual opinion doesn't bother me. What bothers me is she's representing California and she's not smart at all.
She said...
"I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one or the other"
Except that there is no choice, intolerant people just like her made sure of that.
fugaziaboutit: I agree with you.
Perez Hilton: “Vermont recently became the 4th state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit. Why or why not?”
Prejean: “Well I think its great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be between a man and a woman. Thank you very much.”

The questions sucks. Perez is actually asking "should every state put on a ballot an amendment to legalize gay marriage and should the majority of the population vote yes, or should state courts declare current anti-gay legislation unconstitutional."
She didn't answer that question, but I don't think anyone could've without bias. So Perez definitely wanted her to take a stand, which she did, even if it wasn't quote Obama-caliber oratory. It wasn't what Perez wanted to hear. I probably would've said something like "individual states can make their own laws and that's part of what makes America great" and left my opinion out of it.
If she thought her opinion would help her, it wasn't enough. If she thought her opinion would hurt her, she still said what she felt.
Maybe he was just judging on oratorical ability and it didn't matter her content. obvi fail.
equal rights! pursue happiness!
ps: TI should not be imprisoned for exercising his 2nd amendment rights
"I think she's being a little unfairly maligned."
OMG, what an opportunistic apologist asshole!!!
He didn't say she was correct (in fact, to me it sounded he said the opposite) or even that it was OK...I thought he was basically implying that a fat fucking loudmouth gossip columnist leading a dogpile on an irrelevant misguided TV beauty-pageant contestant (she "represents" us? Come on) probably isn’t necessary or helpful. But whateva.
Ol' Gruesome Newsom can't satisfy anyone.
I can’t believe this Miss California story is being so blown out of proportion. I think people need to let up on her. She has a traditional view on marriage and that is okay. If anything, i respect her for giving her real opinion on the issue! Anyway, i found this video today that shows how different news outlets are covering the story… definitely worth a look:
http://www.newsy.com/videos/miss_california_stands_by_pageant_answer/
I believe that Miss California was very much aware of the question asked and what would happen by providing that answer, and she's done very well capitalizing on the uproar since then. At least the only type of whore she is, is the media type. Welcome to the professional martyr circuit, ma'am.
Isn't Miss California the media Whore Pelosi? I am confused...
No I won't cry ...
Gavin just keeps sticking his foot further into the depths of douchebaggery. And the little painted princess will discover all about the sanctity of marriage once - hey, wait! did Gavin just take a stand about the sanctity of marriage?
I guess scruples are for the masses, not your coke addled selves and your best friends wife? Maybe? I don't even know what busted moral compass this retard uses anymore.
Just what the world needs: a meeting of two inconsequential dopey airheads debating what neither one of them does in the privacy of their own bedroom. Miss California and Mr California.
Maybe they can have babies and create a super race of superficial idiots.
I don't know what you people are all about.
Hi Sebastian,
I am all about pointing out hypocrisy whenever I see it. Douchebag Gavin opening up his mouth about anything nearing marriage gets tossed. Having some nearly naked stripper opening her mouth about what others should do is equally annoying. Allowing a retard like Perez Hilton out of his mom's basement is just asking for it.
You do recall that Gavin was banging his best friends wife, which he admitted, while she was still married to his former campaign manager/best pal.
If you need any clarifications, feel free to hit me up. I'm good for an occasional logical explanation.
