Perturbed parents groups are demanding answers from Apple after it approved, then dumped, a new 'Baby Shaker' app for the iPhone. The game, which delightfully promoted infanticide for $.99 on Monday, was described by its maker, Sikalosoft, like this: "On a plane, on the bus, in a theater. Babies are everywhere you don't want them to be! They're always distracting you from preparing for that big presentation at work with their incessant crying. Before Baby Shaker there was nothing you could do about it."
Fun.
Anyway, some hysterical mother, whose child was shaken by its biological father (an aside: who DOES this?) causing Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury, wrote an angry letter to Steve Jobs, demanding its removal.
But what say you, righteous parents? Did you find 'Baby Shaker' insanely offensive too?
See the 'Baby Shaker' in action after the jump.

Bad things exist in the world, and people make games with them.
The iPhone has become an outpost of tyranny.
I'm more offended that people were willing to pay 99 cents for such a boring game.
Buy my Hysterical Mother Shaker app, available in about 15 minutes.
irresponsible parent decapitator
Just run the app and leave the iPhone in a hot car with the app running. It automatically calls 911, hilarity ensues!
the reaction to this asinine. It takes a heap of magical thinking to go from this app to the real live act.
I found it a little disturbing, but I also found it amusing watching people's outrage come to a sputtering stop when asked if they understood the difference between a real baby and a computer program.
I have a brand new son. I must be growing up as I was surprised that I found this offensive.
Nonetheless, sick offensive humor shouldn't be banned.
Stupid boring apps should be.
The one thing I miss is my little crack monkey pet for the palm pilot. feed it beer and hits and it's happy, deprive it and it throws shit at you. Free
dumb-asses protesting such an app = Priceless
As a mother, I have to admit that the idea of this game makes me cringe and is pretty upsetting. However, there are lots of upsetting things in the world and everyone isn't required to bow down to my sensibilities...
There's nothing offensive about this great Wreckx-n-Effect song.
Oh, that's "Rump Shaker". Carry on, then.
instant classic. not worth a penny though. open source plz
A co-worker pointed out today that this may be a safe outlet for people who would otherwise be shaking real babies. Please, think of the children!
